Quality documents for sintered metal filter elements

A quality requirement is useful when the method, acceptance criteria and record are clear. Agree the documentation scope for the actual element and order.

Specify what needs to be verified

The items below are a planning checklist. The records for each order are agreed in the quotation. Availability, issuing party, applicable standards, cost and lead time must be confirmed before the order is agreed.

Material records, dimensional checks and test reports

Material identification

PurposeConnect the specified alloy or material to the supplied component.

Confirmed at quotationMaterial designation, certificate or report type, issuer and the components covered.

Drawing & dimensional record

PurposeCheck the element against the approved geometry and interfaces.

Confirmed at quotationDrawing revision, critical dimensions, tolerances, measurement method and inspection scope.

Filtration performance report

PurposeExplain what a stated filtration performance represents.

Confirmed at quotationTest medium, particle challenge, flow conditions, efficiency definition and acceptance criteria.

Flow & differential-pressure data

PurposeRelate flow behavior to the test conditions and element configuration.

Confirmed at quotationFluid properties, temperature, flow reference conditions, measurement points and test range.

Identification & traceability

PurposeLink the received item or batch to the agreed order and records.

Confirmed at quotationPart or batch marking, record references, packaging identification and retention requirements.

Application-specific declarations

PurposeAddress a stated regulatory or customer requirement where applicable.

Confirmed at quotationThe precise requirement, applicable product scope, responsible issuer and supporting evidence.

Three checks before acceptance

Does it cover this element?
Check the material, construction, part reference and drawing revision. A general catalog is not an order-specific inspection record.
Are the test conditions stated?
Review the method and units alongside the result. Filtration ratings and operating limits need a defined basis for comparison.
Is the acceptance decision defined?
Agree who reviews the evidence, the pass criteria and what happens if a requirement is not met.

Include your document requirements early
